My review of 'Black Sparrow' by A.j.Griffiths-Jones
A joy to read
Uzma is a love-struck, runaway, Asian teenager, her family desperate to find her. Colin is an English hitman seeking to fulfil his final contact before retirement and Collette is the aloof French proprietor of a guest house. They are brought together by impossible coincidence. Their stories and lives become inextricably linked.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones uses the technique of telling the story, spoken from the viewpoint of the different characters interpreting events from their own point of view. It’s a technique which I’m not keen on unless it’s done well, but in the case of Black Sparrow, it has been done very well.
She brings the characters to life and constructs a compelling story with neatly woven twists to keep you locked in. A joy to read, from start to finish.
